1. How would you describe this photograph to a person who could not see it? In the image the main focus is a triangular shape sign. You cant see what is says or tells you. Behind the sign on the left is a house, a tree and a caravan on a field. On the other side of the photo is a road and pavement next to a whole row of trees on top of grass and weeds. No one is in the picture.
2. how is space represented in this photograph (foreground, middle ground, background)? In the foreground of the sign (centered at the front). In the middle of the photo is the house, caravan and trees. these things are all placed around the main focus. At the back ground of the picture is the sky scattered with clouds.
3. what is in and out of focus? How has the subject been framed/cropped? I believe the main focus of the picture is the sign because its centred in the middle and at the front. Its slightly at the bottom of the image. 4. Which part of the photograph strikes you as most interesting - captivating, surprising, puzzling, mysterious? why? I think the part of the photo I find most interesting is, why we can only see the back of the sign. It makes me wonder what does the sign say? whats behind the photo? where does it lead? 5.what question would you ask the artist about this work, if s/he were here? If I could ask Lee Friedlander a question about this image I would ask why he chose this composition and why she found it interesting.
6. what do you think it would be like to live in this photograph? what makes you think that? If I was living in this picture I would think life would be boring because you cant really see anyone or anything interesting in the photo.
7.
8.what do you think is effective about this photograph? what doesn't work so well? I think what makes this image so effective is because its very simple. But because its simple its quite bold because the sign its right at the center of this photo.
